IS THE RADIO QUEEN DONYA THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR KISII COUNTY

The Kisii County Member of Parliament (Women Rep) contest is one of the hotly contested seats in Kisii County. partly it is because it is the only seat that has been set aside for women and many other major reason such as the prestige of representing a whole county (a larger area both geographically and population wise) etc.
The race for the coveted seat has attracted more than 10 candidates, at least those who have received the green light from IEBC. To mention but a few, in the race we have nominated senator Janet Ongera of ODM, sitting Women Rep Mary Otara Sally (Independent Candidate) formerly ODM and Jubilee, Dorice Aburi of Jubilee, Bridgit Ombati, and others. Others because they have not managed to attract the imagination of the people.
However, the race looks like it is going to narrow down to a two horse race, ODM vs Jubilee. Janet Ong'era vs Donya Toto has she is commonly known. Apart from running against the experienced Janet Ong'era, Donya has other issues that she has to deal with. Yes, she comes from a political background, yes she is a woman blah blah blah... So what is Donya Toto against? Eh?
The Radio Hornbil, a woman of steel, a woman who in her own eyes is the most inteligent, the most informed and the only one who claims to know the path that she has taken. Her self praise in the local radio station during her program had portrayed her as a respecter of no one. When she starts to spit be sure that she is gonna give fire and venom in equal measure. She rarely takes hostages in her wars. At least, that is the image her voice has built out here.
Among his major critics are men who feel so much disrespected by her choice of words. For instance just sample some of the following phrase and their loose meanings. Risaera Irongo (a person who releases himself on the ceiling), Rikanabe, Risweswe, rimaya and many more. The men of Kisii County are looking forward to a convincing speech from her to show that such words were not being used in disrespect. That not withstanding, some feel like she played a vital role in imparting the sense of responsibility to presumed irresponsible men of the community. Men who wake up as early as 6 am to go and seat in the streets and then come home for lunch. This irresponsible voters, how will the radio hornbill convince them to get their votes?
Besides the a aforementioned issue, she has a past. A past like anyone else who was born of this world. But, the past always haunts politicians more than anyone else. She has loved and she has been loved before, she is loved and she will be... So the issue on who she had loved and what have you should be out of contention because we all have rotten underbellies. So Donya, is into fire and to some extent a response about her past is likely to shape her political career. She needs not to go about shouting in rooftops on her innocence nor keep silent like nothing happened. All she needs is a clear conscious as she goes around with her campaigns. The point is, Donya has some convincing to do to bring the Kisii County electorates into his side.
