THE ID BUYING NARRATIVE MUST BE DISMANTLED, ELSE IT WILL BE RECIPE FOR CHAOS.

A few days days a go, a women lobby group was attacked by unruly youth in Kisumu. The attack was influenced by suspicion that it was a scheme to buy Identity Card so as to affect the voter turn out in the forthcoming Presidential elections. To this point, it is believed that some of the women who were attacked are yet to recover fully.
The latest case of such despicable narrative was witnessed yesterday the 20th of September 2017 In Kisii Town Kisii County. In this case, a group of NYS officials were spotted in one of the entertainment joints like anybody else. But because the narrative had already been cultivated and the plans activated. The officials were illogically accosted, roughed and harassed with equal measure with the fictional crime being an intention to buy IDs.
On the question of the presence of NYS officials in Kisii town. It in the public domain that one of the Constituencies in Kisii town, Kitutu Chache South is one of the beneficiaries of the famous body's programs. So the Town needs to be used to seeing such officials in Town.
Therefore, the attack on the aforementioned officials was full of malice aforethought, political insecurity from the opposition political players in the region and it has a direct link to the 7th November Kitutu Chache By-election. It must be noted that the biggest rivalry will be between the NASA's Richard Onyonka and Jubilee's Anthony Kibagendi. Which is believed to potentially give an advantage to Kibagendi if it goes through successfully. In a nutshell, there is a general phobia that Kibagendi will get substantive political mileage from the exercise.
It is in the above aspects that a plan was hatched and materialized by one of the County workers through incitement and influence to attack the victims. Also, it was used as an easy bridge to attack and destroy Jubilee Campaign materials which had been erected within the town dwarfing other political players.
On his Facebook page, Anthony Kibagendi confirmed that the NYS program is on going in the constituency."The National Government through the National Youth Service has been recruiting cohorts for the NYS programs in Gusii region, this program has changed fortunes for the Jubilee govt in the region". He posted.
Article 36 of the Kenyan Constitution enshrines freedom of association as one of the fundamental right of all citizens..., if this cancerous narrative is not going to be dismantled and an example set through the culprits. I situation is foreseen where two or three people are seen together and they get attacked on accusation of a plan to buy IDs. This will endanger many lives especially those who happen to think otherwise politically. It must be a case that if you allege you must prove beyond reasonable doubt that indeed such things do happen.
The narrative must be condemned an dismantled with equal measure since is an apex on political intolerances, political profiling and malicious attacks which may bring harm to many players and a breach of the right of association.
There is nothing like buying IDs and if their is, then it must be proved first and foremost. Of course in a Court of Law.
